Way before I ever imagined living in Princeton, I visited the University Art Museum one day. It was love at first sight. For me it is a gem. It might seem a small museum compared to Moma or the Met. But it's collection is pristine. Every time I step into a gallery, something new greets me, even though it has been on the same spot for years. Today was Gauguin smiling back at me, as tears filled my eyes. I haven't been here for six months. In fact, I haven't set foot on campus since I started chemotherapy. Just driving by Princeton University made my heart sink. And walking around campus was unthinkable. Just something else that seemed out of reach. Just one more thing that seemed to be gone. But two days ago it was confirmed on paper and ink, signed off by doctors and approved by the University that I'll be returning to my Department. Just something else that seems within my reach. Just one more thing that is back into my life. So this morning I drove by the University; I walked around campus; I did the unthinkable: I came back home.
